On August 7, 2009 I did a joint investigation with the Eastern
Suffolk Paranormal investigation team at the Pine Hollow Cemetery on
Route 106 in Oyster Bay. We pulled into the small rough parking lot at
about 8:30pm.
It was an interesting night. It was warm and humid when we
arrived. This is one of the oldest active cemeteries on Long Island.
It was founded in 1884 and is the resting place for 7 African
American Civil War soldiers. The cemetery has tombstones from 1884
through 2009. The terrain is uneven and difficult to navigate at
night. Some of the older graves are up on hills.

The very first thing I noticed as we stood at the threshold to
the cemetery was a presence directly under the sign. This didn't
surprise me as much as the bat that was swooping down between the
trees in the clearing about 30 feet behind the gates. I asked for
permission to enter and assured the spirits that we were not there
to harm them, only to communicate with them. I felt at peace, and
mentally communicated with my guides and protectors to keep me and
my companions safe from harm. Once inside the cemetery, I felt a
slight chill and put my sweatjacket on even though it was warm.
Armed with my LED flashlight, Infrared video camera, digital
voice recorder, and K-II EMF detector, I was ready to start
investigating this unusual graveyard. Oftentimes when I am near
cemeteries, funeral homes, and hospitals, I feel an immediate wall
go up around me where my guardians and protectors shield me from the
onslaught of energy from the spirits linked to these places. This
night was no different. We grabbed a quick dinner at the Italian
restaurant across the street. Just sitting in the restaurant was
uncomfortable. The shields were fully in place! I could feel the
energy from the cemetery!

Rather early on, we captured this energy ball shown hovering
right above the front leftmost headstone.

This gives a better view of the energy ball.

This is a close-up of the the energy ball. Although the picture
is distorted due to compression, the original shows a full rainbow
of colors. Energy balls spin and can radiate energy. I consider
energy balls to be different than orbs. Although, many paranormal
investigators consider them to be the same thing. Also, since most
paranormal investigators can't sense what is around them, they have
no frame of reference to know that these are both real and different
from each other.

Other paranormal investigators have reported being followed by
mists in this cemetery. This night did not disappoint us! Several
pictures taken that night had a strange mist on them. Here you can
see the mist coming out of the woods and hovering near my arm and
over my head (not pictured). The K-II and K-III EMF detectors
started going a bit nuts for a minute or two and registered full
scale (20+ milliGauss) with all LED's illuminated. Early on before
we walked around, I identified several names, all of which came to
be found on the headstones!

We walked up to the top of the highest hill
in the cemetery. Here we found a mix of old graves and new graves.
This was the first occurrence of a white orb which was photographed
several times that evening. The important thing to note in this
photograph is that the hill rises higher as it goes back away from
the camera. There is no light on this hill or behind it. When we
turned off our flashlights, it was hard to see any features on the
hill. Yet, we have this orb pictured back up on the hill through the
trees. This was visible with the naked eye as well as being captured
by my digital camera - although at separate times. These were not
fireflies - and there were plenty of them flying around. The
difference in brightness was easy to see.

Shortly after the orb, we captured this giant energy ball. You
can see the magnificent colors in it!

You can see the energy radiating off of this ball !

A bit further down the hill, we captured this giant bright white
orb! I don't know the placement of the graves in this area and this
orb may have appeared over one of the graves. We have multiple
photographs of this area and there were no reflective objects in the
dirt to cause this bright orb.
To the left of the hill where the EMF detectors went crazy, we
captured this more solid energy ball. It's noteworthy, as some
debunkers believe that these energy balls are reflections or optical
illusions. In this case, the energy ball is partially off the frame
of the picture. This would not happen if it was a reflection or
optical illusion. It would be in a straight line of the aberration,
as light moves in a straight line. We captured many more photos of
energy balls and orbs!

Back in the area where the EMF detectors went crazy, we captured
this purple mist. I believe this was a spirit trying to materialize,
as we saw it again in a different area of the cemetery and a face
appears in the top part of the mist! The ESP group had an electronic
research tool called an Ovilus which converts EMF readings and
environmental factors into spoken words. After we all introduced
ourselves at the start of a session to try and capture EVP's
(electronic voice phenomena), we stood around waiting for the Ovilus
to speak. One of the first things it said was "Marie" in its
electronic monotone voice! It said my name which is NOT programmed
into the Ovilus' vocabulary!

The location where we had strong EMF readings is on the hill to
the left of this picture. Shown here we captured three energy balls.
They are not in a line as you would expect if it was a reflection or
refraction.
Here is the purple mist again and this time you can see a face
starting to materialize in the upper portion of the mist. It's
rather clear in the full resolution photograph.
What started out as a warm humid night with swooping bats, turned
out to be a successful ghost hunt where we captured some evidence of
activity in the Pine Hollow Cemetery. It ended with many of us
feeling cool or chilled and a sense of something creepy going on. If
you decide to go investigate the Pine Hollow Cemetery, be careful.
The ground is uneven and you can easily be fooled by the terrain and
twist your ankle or worse.
After about two hours, I got the feeling we were no longer
welcome and so we left. On the way out, we thanked the spirits for
allowing us to visit with them and we asked to go in peace.
